We’re bringing together Early Career Researchers from across the UK AI research ecosystem with members of the AI Hub in Generative Models.

The retreat is your chance to:

  • Create the conditions for colleagues to get to know each other better

  • Create an environment where researchers can begin to develop new collaborations

  • Provide the opportunity for researchers to talk about their research (incl opportunities for ECRs to present their work) and exchange research ideas

  • Promote cross-disciplinary working to solve problems

During the retreat, we will work together to foster collaboration, explore entrepreneurial avenues within Generative AI and participate in some fun, non-academic activities. The retreat will be a great opportunity for early career researchers to get involved in our hub's activities and work with some of the UK's leading Gen AI investigators.

Where?

Our retreat will be held in a beautiful arts and craft style manor house in the Buckinghamshire countryside, offering an ideal setting for deep discussion and collaboration. The venue is close to transport links at Milton Keynes or Bletchley and accessible, chosen to accommodate smooth travel for most UK academic centres.

Who?

This opportunity is open to UK researchers including early career researchers and PhD students not already involved in the AI Hub in Generative Models.

We are now closed for applications as of midday on 12 December 2025 - successful applicants will be contacted in January 2026.

If you have any questions about the retreat, please email the team on genai@ucl.ac.uk
